Version 3.0 Major Update Coming October 2026 · A Smarter Itinerary, and iPhone Duo
New Features

Import Your Bookings

  • Add flights, hotels, trains, cruises, and reservations to a trip straight from their confirmations — PDFs, photos, and screenshots
  • Import several files at once and check them in a single review before anything is added
  • Dates are checked against your trip, duplicates are flagged, and two confirmations for the same hotel become one stay with two rooms
  • The original confirmation is kept in the trip’s Documents and stays linked to its booking
  • Share a confirmation to TripChronos from Mail, Files, or Photos and choose the trip it belongs to
  • Import is out of beta. If you imported flights during the beta, please check their times: the earlier version could shift them by a few hours

Trip Planner

  • Plan this trip for me drafts a day-by-day plan from where you’re staying: sights first, a short list of places to eat, and day trips from your base
  • Say what you’re after in your own words, choose car or transit, and move places between days before adding them
  • Every suggestion is confirmed in Apple Maps, with its place card one tap away
  • Plan Day drafts a single day around what’s already booked
  • Add the Drives fills in the driving legs of a road trip from the stops you already have
  • Stops on the Way suggests places worth getting out for on a long drive
  • Added a plan you don’t like? Undo removes it in one tap

A Better Itinerary

  • Travel time between each place and the next, on foot or by car
  • A “+” on every day, so adding to the right day takes one tap
  • Itinerary times now stay in the trip’s own time zone, so nothing shifts when you or a travel partner are in another zone
  • Flights and other travel show the time zone at each end, and the real travel time
  • A map beside the itinerary that follows the stop you’re looking at, with your hotel and arrival station pinned
  • A new upcoming trip opens straight on its itinerary, and empty screens show every way to get started
  • Past trips can be edited too

Made for iPhone Duo

  • Open your iPhone Duo and Trips, Stats, Friends, and Settings show their list and detail side by side
  • The itinerary sits beside its map, and a memory beside its details
  • A two-pane Trip Video editor and a wider year in review
  • Layouts keep clear of the fold, and the app carries on one screen at a time when the iPhone Duo is closed
  • iPad gets the same wider layouts

Siri, Spotlight, and Widgets

  • Ask Siri “What’s next?”, “What’s my plan today?”, “When’s my flight?”, or “When is my next trip?” and get the answer without opening the app
  • Find and open any trip from Spotlight
  • New Today’s Plan widget (Premium)
  • Daily Trip Recap: an optional evening reminder during a trip to save the day’s photos

Save for Offline

  • Get a trip ready for no signal: travel times, time zones, and stop locations are looked up ahead of time and kept on your iPhone

Apple Intelligence

  • Describe writes a caption for a memory from its photo (iOS 27)
  • On iOS 27, larger requests, such as long confirmations and planning questions, can use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. Your data is never sent to a third-party AI service
  • Apple Intelligence features need iOS 26 or later on an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence; everything else works on iOS 17 and later

Friends

  • Block or report someone from their profile
  • Friendships are now mutual: both people have to add each other
Improvements
  • Much lower memory use with large libraries: Stats, the World Map, the Trips list, Friends, the leaderboard, and widgets no longer load every photo thumbnail to do their work
  • Trip Video chooses photos by place and quality, and has a new look
  • Year in review has a look of its own for each year, more motion, and a map of the whole world
  • A trip’s overview shows its photo and places as soon as it opens
  • Smoother navigation and swipes throughout the app
  • Live Activities are now off until you turn them on for a trip
  • Text follows your iPhone’s text size setting in more places
  • Sheets ask before discarding work you’ve started
  • In Stats, a trip counts in the year it started, including the part that runs past New Year
  • Imported confirmations don’t count toward the free limit of five documents per trip
  • New trips without a cover photo get a map of where they’re headed

Improvements
  • The app opens faster, and the Trips list scrolls smoothly no matter how many trips and cover photos you have
  • Opening a trip and moving between its tabs is noticeably quicker, especially in trips with thousands of memories
  • Swiping through memories is smoother and uses far less memory — photos appear right away and sharpen to full resolution when you zoom in
  • The World Map has been rebuilt to load faster and to keep your place when you come back to it
  • Travel Stats and the leaderboard appear right away instead of pausing to load
  • Adding a memory from the camera or your photo library is faster, and saving no longer waits for the place name to be looked up
  • Importing photos from the Trips list starts right away and uses far less memory
  • The video editor preview stays responsive while you make changes
  • Shared trips sync more efficiently, with fewer unnecessary updates sent to collaborators
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed the app freezing for several seconds when opening or closing a memory in a large trip
  • Fixed freezes and crashes at launch and on the Trips list caused by large cover photos
  • Fixed memories that were stuck without a place name — missing place names are now filled in automatically in the background
  • Fixed overlapping pins on the World Map, and memories without a country being grouped into a single pin in the ocean
  • Fixed the weather forecast showing empty days on trips that are already under way
  • Fixed editing a trip occasionally removing its cover photo
  • Fixed the Trips list not regrouping after you change a trip’s dates

Import Photos by Date

  • Automatically gather the photos you took during a trip’s dates and add them in one step — no more hunting through your camera roll
  • Review everything first and deselect anything you don’t want to include
  • One tap to skip screenshots or photos that have no location
  • Imports run in the background with a progress banner, so you can keep using the app while your photos come in
  • If an import is interrupted, it picks up where it left off the next time you open the app
  • Find it when you create a trip, or anytime from a trip’s add menu under Find by Date
