From the Trips tab, tap the "+" button in the top right corner. Enter your destination name and optionally add details like trip type, companions, and dates. You can let the app auto-calculate dates from your memories later.

Open a trip and go to the Memories tab. Tap the "+" button to create a new memory. You can take a new photo or select one from your library. The app will automatically tag your location if you have location services enabled.

• Photos: To select existing photos for memories and read their location data. Choose “Full Access” to read photo location metadata.
• Camera: To take new photos for memories and to scan a friend’s QR code.
• Location: To tag where you captured your memories.
• Notifications: Requested when you turn on “On This Day” in Settings > Reminders, or when a friend invites you to collaborate on a trip.

All permissions are optional and the app will work without any of them — features that need a permission simply ask the first time you use them. The Settings tab inside TripChronos shows a Permissions block with quick toggles for Photos, Camera, and Location, plus an “Open Settings” shortcut to your device’s Settings > TripChronos screen.

Yes — open the Settings tab inside TripChronos, scroll to Help & Legal, and tap Replay Intro Tour. The four-step tour walks through the journal, automatic photo capture, and travel milestones.

No. TripChronos works fully on a single device without iCloud — your trips, memories, and photos stay local.

However, iCloud is strongly recommended for three reasons:

• Sync across your iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices signed into the same Apple ID
• Trip collaboration with friends — this feature requires iCloud Sharing
• Backup safety — without iCloud, your data is only on this device

You can sign in or out of iCloud at any time without losing your data.

Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all devices and that iCloud is enabled for TripChronos:

1. Open Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud
2. Ensure iCloud Drive is on
3. Scroll down and ensure TripChronos is toggled on

Syncing may take a few minutes, especially with large photos. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

Yes, your trips and memories are stored in your iCloud account. Photos can take up significant space, so we recommend having adequate iCloud storage. You can check your usage in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.

Each trip can be customized with:

• Companions: Solo, Partner, Friends, Family, Group
• Trip Type: City Stay, Road Trip, Cruise, Nature, Resort, Multi-City, Event
• Purpose: Getaway, Adventure, Celebration, Milestone, Work, Family Visit, Reset
• Vibes: Relaxed, Exciting, Emotional, Spontaneous, Joyful, Transformational

When you add memories to a trip, TripChronos can automatically calculate the trip's start and end dates based on the timestamps of your earliest and latest memories. You can also set dates manually if you prefer.

Create a trip with future start dates and it will appear as an upcoming trip with a countdown card showing how many days until departure. You can also add an itinerary and reminders to plan ahead. Once the trip's start date arrives, it automatically becomes an active trip.

Open a trip and go to its itinerary. Tap "+" to add a stop, a stay, travel, or an activity, or to import a booking or have the planner draft your days (see Planning & Itinerary below). For each stop you can set:

• Stop name: The place or hotel you're visiting
• Arrival & departure dates: When you arrive and leave
• Location: With automatic geocoding
• Notes: Any details you want to remember

Stops appear in a day-by-day timeline with the travel time between places, and a map that follows the stop you're looking at.

Each trip has a reminders section where you can add a checklist of tasks. Use it for packing lists, booking confirmations, visa requirements, or anything you need to remember. Tap items to mark them as completed. Reminders are sorted with incomplete items first.

Yes! If you traveled before using TripChronos, you can manually add countries you've visited from the Map or Stats tab. Manually tracked countries are counted in your overall stats and appear on your world map, ensuring your travel history is complete.

First, set up your profile in Settings. You'll receive a unique friend code (e.g., WANDER-ABC123) and a matching QR code. Share your code or QR with friends, or scan/enter theirs to connect. Once connected, you can see each other on leaderboards, share achievements via the activity feed, and invite each other to collaborate on trips.

Open a trip and navigate to the Report tab. You can share as a web link or export a PDF. Customize the layout, choose which photos to feature, and select a color theme. For PDF exports, you can adjust page size and image quality. For web shares, tap Share to generate a link anyone can view in their browser.

Yes! When you share a trip, it generates a web link at tripchronos.com/trip/[code] that anyone can view in any browser. Web reports include Timeline, Grid, and Story views plus an interactive map.

Achievements are badges you earn as you travel. They're awarded for milestones like visiting a certain number of countries, completing trips, and capturing memories. Achievements come in different tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

Open a trip’s itinerary, tap “+” to open Add a Plan, and choose Import from PDFs or Import from Photos. Pick one confirmation or several at once.

TripChronos reads each one and shows you what it found before anything is added. You can correct any detail, and duplicates are flagged so nothing is added twice.

You can also share a confirmation to TripChronos from Mail, Files, or Photos. It waits in the Import Inbox until you choose the trip it belongs to.

The original file is kept in the trip’s Documents, linked to the booking it created.

TripChronos runs on iOS 17 and later. Its Apple Intelligence features need iOS 26 or later on an iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any newer iPhone, or an iPad with an M1 chip or later or the A17 Pro chip. Apple Intelligence also has to be turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri, with your device and Siri set to a language it supports, and it isn’t offered in every country or region. Apple’s support site has the current list.

These use Apple Intelligence: reading booking confirmations (the Import Inbox and Import from Photos or PDF), the trip planner’s own picks, day trips and stops along a drive, Optimize Day, activity suggestions, memory descriptions, trip summaries, and Trip Video title ideas.

iOS 27 adds a few things: Describe can look at the photo itself, booking screenshots are read with their layout, and long confirmations and planning questions can use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.

Without Apple Intelligence, everything else works, including the trip planner with places from Apple Maps, adding plans by hand, travel times, the map, and Save for Offline. Confirmations you share to TripChronos can be saved to a trip’s Documents. If the options don’t appear on a supported device, check that Apple Intelligence is on; it may still be downloading.

Importing and planning are free. Imported confirmations don’t count toward the free limit of five documents per trip.

From a trip’s itinerary, tap “+” and choose Plan this trip for me. Tell it what you’re after in your own words, and whether you’re getting around by car or by transit.

You get a day-by-day draft built around where you’re staying:

• Sights first: things to see and do, with a short list of places to eat
• Day trips: nearby towns worth a day, when you’re based somewhere for three nights or more
• Checked in Apple Maps: every suggestion is confirmed as a real place, with its place card one tap away

Move places between days, untick anything you don’t want, then add the rest to your itinerary. Undo removes what was added in one tap.

For a single day, use Plan Day. On a road trip, Add the Drives fills in the driving legs, and Stops on the Way suggests places to break up a long drive.

Please check the departure and arrival times of flights you imported before version 3.0. The beta version of import could shift a time by a few hours when the flight crossed time zones.

Open the flight in your itinerary, compare it with your confirmation, and correct it if needed. Flights you entered by hand, and anything imported in 3.0 or later, are not affected.

Itinerary times are kept in the trip’s own time zone, the way they appear on your tickets and bookings. A 9:00 AM check-out stays 9:00 AM whether you look at it from home or from the hotel, and a travel partner in another country sees the same time you do.

Flights and other travel show the time zone at each end, so a departure and an arrival in different zones are both shown in local time.

Yes. Your itinerary is always stored on your iPhone. A few details normally come from the network, so before you travel, open the itinerary’s menu and choose Save for Offline. TripChronos looks up and keeps:

• Travel times between the places on each day
• Time zones for your flights and other travel
• Map locations for your stops

Map tiles themselves can’t be saved by an app. To see the map with no signal, download the area as an offline map in Apple Maps.

Siri can answer questions about your trips without opening the app. Try:

• “What’s next in TripChronos?”
• “What’s my plan today in TripChronos?”
• “When’s my flight in TripChronos?”
• “What’s my next trip in TripChronos?”
• “Capture a memory in TripChronos”

The same actions are available in the Shortcuts app and can be assigned to the Action Button. Your trips also appear in Spotlight search.

An optional notification each evening of a trip, reminding you to save the day’s photos while they’re fresh. It’s off by default. Turn it on in the app under Settings → Daily Trip Recap.

Live Activities are off until you ask for them. Turn on Trip Live Activity in the app’s Settings, and an active trip’s progress appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Turn it off there at any time.

Yes, and it has been redesigned for it. With your iPhone Duo open, Trips, Stats, Friends, and Settings show their list and detail side by side, the itinerary sits beside its map, and the Trip Video editor shows the preview next to its tools. Layouts keep clear of the fold.

Once you set up your profile, you'll get a unique friend code in the format WANDER-XXXXXX, plus a matching QR code. Share either with friends so they can add you, or scan/enter theirs to connect. Friend connections are mutual — both users can see each other's stats and activity.

Two different codes for two different things:

• Friend code (e.g., WANDER-AB12CD) — identifies you. Share it once with someone so you can connect, see each other’s stats and achievements, and invite each other to collaborate on trips.
• Trip share code (e.g., ABCD2345) — identifies a specific trip you’ve published as a Trip Report. The code is embedded in the share URL (tripchronos.com/trip/?code=…) and lets anyone with the link view that trip in their browser. You can revoke a Trip Report at any time, and free shares expire after 14 days (90 days with Premium).

A trip share is public to anyone with the link — a friend connection is a private mutual relationship.

There are 46 achievements across 7 categories (Countries, Trips, Memories, Geography, Social, Streaks, and Discovery), each with 5 tiers:

• Bronze: Getting started milestones
• Silver: Building momentum
• Gold: Experienced traveler
• Platinum: Seasoned explorer
• Diamond: Ultimate achievement

The leaderboard ranks you against your friends in three categories:

• Countries: Most countries visited
• Trips: Most trips completed
• Memories: Most memories captured

Open the person’s profile in Friends, tap the menu, and choose Block or Report. A blocked person can no longer see your profile or activity, and you won’t see theirs. Reports are sent to our support team by email.

Friendships are mutual: someone only becomes your friend once you have both added each other.

No. Your trips, memories, and photos are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account, protected by Apple. They are never uploaded to servers that we run, and we have no way to see, copy, or access them.

There is no TripChronos account to sign up for, and the app contains no advertising, no tracking, and no usage analytics. We never sell or share your data with anyone.

Only you — unless you choose to share. Nothing is shared by default, and there are only three ways anything becomes visible to someone else:

• Trip collaboration: only the people you invite can see and edit that one trip, and you can remove them at any time
• Web trip reports: if you create a shareable link, anyone who has the link can view that trip until you remove the link or it expires
• Friends: if you set up a Friends profile, your friends can see your display name, avatar, the countries you have visited, and totals such as your number of trips, memories, and achievements — not the trips, memories, or photos themselves

Very little, and never your trips, memories, or photos. Here is the complete list:

• Crash reports: if the app crashes, a technical report (app version, device model, iOS version, and where in the code the crash happened) is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. Anything that identifies you is removed before it is sent
• Maps and weather: place names and forecasts come from Apple, which receives only the location and date being looked up
• Place information: background details about a place come from Wikipedia, which receives only the name of the place
• Trip Video music: music tracks are downloaded from our content delivery network. Nothing about you or your trips is sent

AI features use Apple Intelligence: on your device, or on iOS 27, for larger requests such as long confirmations and planning questions, Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which is built so that not even Apple can see what is sent. Nothing goes to a third-party AI service. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Photos: so you can add photos to your memories, and so the app can read where and when a photo was taken. When you import photos by date, the app looks through your library on your device to find photos from the trip’s dates. Only the photos you choose to add become part of a trip, and they are never sent to us.

Location: so a memory can be tagged with the place where you captured it. Your location is used only while you are using the app and is never tracked in the background.

Both are optional. You can change or turn off either permission at any time in your device’s Settings.

We can’t, because we don’t have it. Your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, which only you control — we have nothing on our side to look up or delete. You can remove everything yourself in a few taps: see How do I delete all my data? below.

Yes. TripChronos uses iCloud to automatically sync your trips, photos, and memories across all your Apple devices. Your full-resolution photos are the largest part of this — they're stored in iCloud alongside your trip data, stops, reminders, and manual countries.

Social features like Friends, Leaderboards, and shared trip reports use Apple's public database and do not count against your personal iCloud storage.

If your iCloud storage is full, your trips and photos are still saved locally on your device — nothing is lost. However, they won't sync to your other devices until space is freed up.

To manage your storage, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage on your device. You can also upgrade your iCloud plan if you need more space.

In Settings, scroll to the bottom to find the Delete All Data option. This will permanently remove all your trips and memories from the app and iCloud. This action cannot be undone.

If you have shared anything, remove that as well:

• Web trip reports: open the trip’s Share tab and choose Remove Share to take the link offline
• Friends profile: in Friends, edit your profile and choose Delete Profile
• Remaining iCloud data: on your device, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > TripChronos and delete the app’s data
